Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run incident that killed a motorcycle rider at a south Wichita intersection late Wednesday night.
A black SUV was going east on 47th Street South and started to turn north onto Hydraulic when it struck a motorcycle that was going west on 47th. The driver of the motorcycle was identified as 37-year-old Kenneth “Kenny” Ballinger of Derby. He was taken to a hospital where he later died of his injuries. Ballinger was the manager of two popular music venues in Wichita, Barleycorn’s and The Elbow Room.
The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. and the SUV left the scene. The 31-year-old driver was found later and booked into jail Thursday night. Charges are from the hit-and-run and for not having a valid driver’s license.
