Police in Winfield said a man was killed Wednesday evening when his motorcycle ran into a pickup that had stopped to make a turn on a city street.
The crash was reported shortly before 6 p.m. in the 2800 block of East 9th Avenue. A pickup driven by an 81-year-old Winfield man was traveling east when it stopped to make a turn into a private parking lot. A motorcycle then struck the pickup from behind.
Crews tried to perform life-saving measures but the motorcycle rider, 39-year-old Steven Anstaett of Winfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.
