A Goddard man has been charged with first degree murder in connection with the death of his mother at her home in western Sedgwick County.
42-year-old Kyle Romey made his first appearance in court Tuesday. His bond was set at $500,000 and his next court appearance was scheduled for October 28th.
Deputies found the body of 67-year-old Denyce Briet on October 6th at her home in the 15,300 block of West Highway 54. Sheriff Jeff Easter said there appeared to be blunt force trauma.
Romey was identified as a suspect and he was arrested later in Wichita. Easter said there was a history of arguments and violence in the past between Romey and family members, and Romey had served time in prison for some of those incidents.
