Wichita City Council members have voted to approve the name of Evergreen Branch Library and Community Center for a renovated library branch that will be combined with a number of services.
The board of directors for the Wichita Public Library asked for community input on five finalist choices for the renovated Evergreen branch. Evergreen was the top choice, with El Pueblo coming in second, El Norte third, then Arteaga and Adelante. The board looked at the results and decided to recommend to the city council to stay with the name Evergreen. Council member Cindy Claycomb said it’s a well-recognized and loved name for the facility.
The new facility is scheduled to open in December or January. It will combine the branch library with a Neighborhood Resource Center and it will also include a several community service providers.
