Wichita woman sentenced to 50 years for killing of former stepfather

A Sedgwick County judge has sentenced a Wichita woman to 50 years to life in prison for the 2019 murder of her former stepfather.

26-year-old Micaela Spencer was convicted of first degree murder in September.   She was also sentenced to almost four years for two theft charges and six months for the sale of sexual relations.   She will have to serve 50 years before she is eligible for parole.

Spencer was convicted for the May, 2019 stabbing death of 50-year-old William Callison, who was found dead inside an RV parked near K-15 and Hydraulic.   Prosecutors said Spencer and her boyfriend, 27-year-old Royce Thomas, planned the death as revenge for sexual abuse by Callison.   Prosecutors said Spencer lured Callison to the RV by offering sex and marijuana.

Thomas was sentenced in August to over 54 years in prison.
