The driver killed in Saturday’s crash in downtown Wichita is identified as 33-year-old Esbardo Chavez-Ruiz, of Wichita.
According to police, Chavez-Ruiz was the only person involved in the crash, and it’s believed speed was a factor. Officials say the driver lost control and rolled his Nissan Maxima, hitting the retaining wall with a windmill blade near Main and Dewey.
Chavez-Ruiz was pinned inside his car and was pronounced dead at the scene after fire crews got him out.
