One man is dead and another man is custody after a stabbing that happened early Sunday evening.
Police and emergency crews responded just before 5 p.m. to reports of a stabbing in the 2700 block of North Amidon, just outside of the Amidon Place Apartments.
Officers arrived and found EMS working on the victim in the parking lot of the apartment complex with multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead that scene and has been identified as 44 year old Jayson Stalkup of Wichita.
At around the same time officers were dispatched to the stabbing, an injury accident was called in at 25th and Amidon down the street from the complex. Officers arrived at that location and identified the 27 year old driver as the suspect in the stabbing.
The two men were involved in an altercation at the apartment complex and it is believed the two men were known to each other.
The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital to treat minor injuries before being transported to the Sedgwick County Jail. He now faces 1st Degree Murder charges.
