One person was killed and two others were injured in an early morning crash on the Kansas Turnpike in southeast Wichita.
The crash was reported around 8:30 Friday morning, close to 31st Street South. The Kansas Highway Patrol said a semi was stopped near the shoulder because of mechanical problems when an SUV struck it from behind in the southbound lanes. One person from the SUV was killed and two others were taken to a hospital.
The southbound lanes of the turnpike was closed for much of the day, reopening around 12:50 p.m.
