Artwork revealed for 50th Wichita River Festival

Organizers of the Wichita River Festival have unveiled the artwork that will be seen on posters and admission buttons for the 50th Riverfest this summer.

The artwork was created by Joe Worley, who won a competition sponsored by Wichita Festivals, Inc. and Emprise Bank.   He brought icons and images from past Riverfest posters and presented them in his own unique style, using the theme “50 Years at the Fest.”   Worley said he wanted to use as many past poster designs as possible, and since many of the characters from the posters were playing musical instruments, he wanted to bring them together as a “band.”

The 50th Riverfest will take place June 3rd through the 11th, and it will be the first nine-day, in-person Riverfest since 2019 due to schedule changes and cancellations from the COVID-19 pandemic.   Adult buttons for people 13 and older and child buttons for kids 6 through 12 will be available at area Quik Trip locations starting May 6th.   Children age 5 and younger get free admission to Riverfest.
