During a detention hearing on Tuesday, a teen accused in the deadly shooting inside Towne East Square on Friday will remain in the Sedgwick County Juvenile Detention Facility.
The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office intends to prosecute the teenager, identified as Te’Bryis Robinson, as an adult in the shooting death of 14 year old TrenJ’vious Hutton of Wichita.
Robinson now faces charges of 1st Degree Murder and Criminal Use of Weapons.
Police said Hutton was involved in a fight with several people, and during the altercation, Robinson pulled out a handgun and shot Hutton multiple times.
Robinson was later found by officers near the scene. Police say they recovered two handguns during the investigation.
Robinson’s first court appearance is scheduled for Monday, April 18, at 8:30 a.m. in Juvenile District Court.
Later this week, the Wichita Branch NAACP, Wichita Police, local educators and other community members will meet to discuss mentorship, education, jobs and other activities as possible ways to prevent youth violence.
