Wichita police arrested a man suspected of stealing around $10,000 worth of sporting equipment belonging to the Special Olympics.

Officers said the items were being kept in a storage facility 3500 block of W. Douglas. They said two individuals burglarized the units between March 12th and 14th

Investigators located surveillance video that showed a U-Haul truck pulling into the neighborhood next to the storage facility. A 40 year old Wichita man had rented the truck and it was revealed that he had two outstanding felony warrants out of Cloud County and Dickinson County for burglary and theft.

The U-Haul truck was also not returned on time, and the company located it, as well as the man who rented it, in the 7100 block of W. Shade. He was taken into custody and the truck was found loaded with the property belonging to the Special Olympics.

WPD detectives returned the property to the victims.
