New Geriatric Services Hospital to Break Ground in Wichita This Spring

Corterra of Wichita, LLC has announced plans to build a new behavioral services hospital for geriatric patients and older adults.

The project will cost approximately $10 million, and the building will be located in the 7500 block of West Village Circle near K-96 and Ridge Rd. The hospital will offer mental health services for senior adults and serve as a resource for continuing care retirement communities, acute care partners, and the general public. City Council approved a public/private partnership between Corterra and the City of Wichita earlier this week.

Corterra plans to break ground in the coming weeks, with completion of the 21,000-square-foot facility anticipated in the Spring of 2023.

The hospital will include 24 private rooms, a secured courtyard, plus therapy, dining, observation, and exam rooms. It is expected to care for approximately 400 to 500 older adults annually and attract patients from across Kansas.

“We are constantly looking at ways to grow Wichita’s place as an industry leader in healthcare services,” said Mayor Brandon Whipple. “The addition of Corterra will not only expand our position as a healthcare community, but increase the resources for seniors.”
