The Kansas Bureau of Investigation says a statewide Silver Alert has been issued for a missing Towanda man.

Butler County deputies have been looking for 71-year-old Joseph Hayes, who last talked with his family by phone on Sunday.   He was likely near the Dallas, Texas area. He left on June 20th on a trip to see family members in Alabama, but he did not arrive there.   He called family members and said he got turned around in the Fort Worth area, and they advised him to return to Kansas.

Hayes was driving as 2014 Black Dodge Ram 1500 with a Kansas tag of 576-HZW.   Hayes has had a previous stroke, and he has high blood pressure.  Family members say he has shown signs of dementia.

Anyone with information on Hayes is urged to call 911 or the Butler County Sheriff’s Office at 316-322-4398.
