The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said Monday additional charges have been filed against a former detention deputy who was arrested for allowing contraband items to be brought into the jail.

Undersheriff Brian White said two female inmates of the jail reported inappropriate sexual contact with the deputy, 22-year-old Dustin Burnett of Maize.   The alleged contact took place on July 17th.    White said detectives investigated and added three counts of unlawful sexual relations to Burnett’s current charges.    White said investigators are talking with more than a dozen other female inmates as the investigation continues.

Burnett was charged with two counts of official misconduct after a security breach was discovered at the jail.  Sheriff Jeff Easter said Burnett saw inmates cutting a hole in a window to bring in contraband items, but he did nothing to stop it and he did not report it.    Sheriff Easter said plans to bring a gun into the jail were discovered and stopped.

White said Burnett had been working for the jail since the beginning of the year, so detectives are looking back through his entire employment with the Sheriff’s Office.
