As the summer ends and a new school year begins, the City of Wichita is announcing a schedule for the closing of public swimming pools and splash pads.

Friday is the last day for Harvest Pool, and Sunday will be the last day for the Minisa pool.   The Aley, McAfee, Orchard and College Hill pools will remain open through Labor Day weekend.

Aquatics director Joe Martin said the Aley and McAfee pools will be open on Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and the Orchard and College Hill pools will be open Sundays from 1 to 6.    September 3rd will be the last day for the Aley and McAfee pools, and September 4th will be the final day of the season for Orchard and College Hill.

Martin said the Fairmount, Lincoln, Old Town and Osage splash pads will close August 15th.    The remaining locations will be open Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.   The remaining splash pads will be open through September 30th.

Martin said more information is available at the city’s web page at www.wichita.gov/aquatics and if there has to be a change in the schedule or an earlier closing because of staffing issues, a notice will be posted there.
