McPherson High School was placed on lockdown early Tuesday afternoon after a report of a man with a gun in the area. After a search of the area, law enforcement officials said there was no threat inside or near the school.
The lockdown was issued shortly after 1:30 p.m. McPherson County deputies and McPherson police officers were searching the area around the school and searching inside the building.
Residents were urged to avoid the area around the 800 block of East 1st Street. Officers remained on the campus as students were dismissed for the day.
