An unidentified driver was killed in a crash Saturday in north Wichita.
The crash was reported just after 11:30 a.m. on southbound I-135 near 53rd Street North. Troopers said traffic was stopped due to congestion, and a semi had stopped in the right lane. A car was going south at highway speed and the driver tried to stop, but he did not stop in time because of rainfall and a wet roadway. The car hit the back of a trailer that was being towed by the semi.
The driver of the car, 23-year-old Damian Conner of Whitewater, was killed in the crash. The driver of the semi was not injured.
Traffic was closed on I-135 for about four hours after the crash.
