After the Biden Administration moved to expand the IRS, Senator Roger Marshall has introduced a couple bills aimed at reducing IRS overreach.

The first bill is the Preventing Frivolous Actions by IRS Agents Act, which would compensate people who were incorrectly subjected to failed audits or other legal actions. This would include payment of legal fees if a person wins their case against the IRS. The full bill can be read by following the link below.

The second bill would require the IRS to sell off its stockpile of ammunition. Full text of the bill can be read here.

“Joe Biden and the Democrats stuck working and middle-class Kansans with a massive spending scam that gives the IRS the green light to aggressively snoop around in their personal finances. Defending a frivolous audit is expensive and the IRS should pay the bill, not innocent Americans who were wrongly targeted by an overzealous federal accountant,” said Senator Marshall. “Additionally, the IRS currently possesses a massive ammunition stockpile. Joe Biden wants the IRS to squeeze every cent it possibly can out of law-abiding American taxpayers and this ammo must be sold before federal law enforcement can potentially use it to threaten and oppress citizens.”

This is a response to the expansion of the IRS under the federal Inflation Reduction Act, which provided $80-billion in funding to the IRS over the next decade. The IRS came under added scrutiny after it was found the agency was among several working to purchase additional arms and ammunition. Job postings also revealed the IRS was working to hire additional armed agents.

Several similar bills have been introduced this year, many focusing on the IRS’s purchase of $700,000 worth of ammunition earlier this year.
