Kansas corrections officials are investigating the death of an inmate at the Lansing Correctional Facility.
Lansing officials said 53-year-old George Dobbs was found unresponsive while under observation in the infirmary. Staff began life-saving measures until emergency crews arrived, but Dobbs was pronounced dead.
An autopsy will be conducted, but corrections officials said a preliminary assessment indicated the death was not related to COVID-19.
Dobbs was serving an 89-month sentence on drug convictions in Leavenworth County.
