Kevin Saal, Wichita State University’s Athletics Director, announced on Thursday that Head Baseball Coach Eric Wedge will not return to the baseball program.
Wedge stepped away from the position in October for undisclosed health reasons.
Assistant Athletic Director for Baseball Operations and Player Development Loren Hibbs stepped in to take over heading coaching responsibilities in Wedge’s absence. Hibbs will now lead the program during the 2023 season. Coach Hibbs led the 49ers at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for 27 seasons.
Hibbs will be assisted by Mike Pelfrey, Mike Sirianni, Nate Brisco and Connor Behrens.
