An unidentified man has died after suffering critical injuries in a West Wichita house fire Friday night.
The fire broke out just before 9 p.m. in the 1200 block of N. Wilbur Lane (Southwest of 13th St. N. and Ridge).
Officials said the call was initially for a grass fire, but escalated to a house fire call. The blaze was contained to the residence’s basement, causing significant smoke damage throughout the home.
The man was taken to an area hospital, but succumbed to his injuries some time later.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
