Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has been cleared to go back to work in person after a positive test for COVID-19.  The Governor’s office said after several later tests that turned out to be negative, her doctor and Kansas health officials determined that she does not have the virus after all.  She has been cleared to return to work in person starting Friday.

The Governor still plans to deliver the State of the State Address on Tuesday, January 24th.

The State Health Officer, Dr. Joan Duwve, issued a statement on the Governor’s health:

“After receiving a positive result on a COVID test, Governor Kelly followed all protocols by self-isolating at home while continuing to work. With the increased time indoors this winter, anytime Kansans are not feeling well they should follow the infection prevention protocols, get tested for respiratory viruses such as COVID-19 or influenza, and stay home until they are no longer experiencing symptoms.”
