The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is proposing fines against a Kingman plastics plant over an accident that killed a worker last summer.
OSHA issued a statement saying that a failure to make sure that required safety procedures were followed led to the accident in August, 2022. Penalties of $292421 were proposed for Great Lakes Polymer Technologies, operating in Kingman as FabPro Polymers. The agency said duct tape over a safety interlock prevented a machine from shutting down, and a worker was killed while trying to clear jammed machinery.
OSHA Area Director Todd Underwood in Wichita was quoted in a press release as saying that proper machine safety procedures would have prevented the worker from losing his life. The company has 15 days to comply or contest the findings by OSHA.
