UPDATE: Wichita police announced Monday morning that a 31-year-old man from Florissant, Missouri has been arrested in connection with Sunday’s shooting incident in Old Town.

Exactly what led up to the shooting remains unclear. Anyone who knows more about what happened is asked to call police at 316-268-4407, the See Something Say Something hotline at 316-519-2282, or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.

Eleven people were injured in a shooting incident inside an Old Town nightclub early Sunday morning.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. at City Nightz at 222 N. Washington. No one was killed, but police said at least 9 people were shot while 2 others were injured after being trampled. The victims were seven men ranging in age from 22 to 34, and two women, ages 22 and 24.

Wichita Fire and Sedgwick County EMS also responded to the scene.

Police were already patrolling the area because of previous issues with the club. While they were outside, they heard screams from inside the club, followed by a large number of people leaving the business.

Authorities said early Sunday that one person who is believed to be one of the shooters is in custody. Further investigations revealed that there were at least four firearms that were discharged inside the club during the incident. An additional four firearms were seized and officials are investigating whether or not they match ballistic evidence recovered from the scene. The KBI was contacted to assist with this process.

The increased law enforcement presence around City Nightz is in response to nearly a dozen incidents at the nightclub in the past year ranging from aggravated battery calls to a drive by incident on May 21st.

Police are asking anyone who may possess video evidence of the shooting, or any additional information, to contact WPD investigators immediately at 316-268-4407,. You can also call the See Something Say Something hotline at 316-519-2282, or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
