A Wichita man has been charged in connection with a stabbing that left two women injured at a west side home.
A hearing was held Thursday for 37-year-old Matthew Smith, and he was charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder, rape and aggravated kidnapping. His bond was set at $250,000 and his next court appearance was scheduled for August 21st.
Smith was arrested after an incident Monday at a home in the 200 block of North McComas. Police said two 79-year-old women were taken to a hospital with injuries. One woman had been sexually assaulted and she had lacerations and facial fractures, while the other woman had stab wounds. There’s no word on a motive for the assault.
