Crews have been on the scene of a large outdoor fire at a metal plant in McPherson.
Heavy smoke was coming from McPherson Metals as crews worked to contain the fire. There were no reports of injuries.
Officials said a battery ignited as it was being prepared for recycling. The blaze was extinguished without incident, and heavy smoke linked to the fire reportedly had no discernible impact on air quality in the area.
