Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff at all state facilities on Monday, August 14th, in honor of 29-year-old Fairway police officer Jonah Oswald.

Funeral services for Officer Oswald will be held Monday.  A visitation will take place Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Westside Family Church in Lenexa, and a funeral will be held at the same location on Monday at 11:00 a.m.

Oswald was injured in a shootout with a suspect at a Mission convenience store last Sunday and passed away the next day.    Oswald had been with the Fairway Police Department for four years.   A suspect, 40-year-old Shannon Wayne Marshall, was killed in the shootout.

Governor Kelly issued a statement saying, “Jonah’s death is a reminder of the sacrifices our law enforcement officers make every day in service to their fellow Kansans. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones as they mourn his loss.”
