The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch for south central and eastern Kansas, beginning Saturday and continuing through Tuesday evening.
Dangerously hot conditions will be present for the weekend with heat index readings of 105 to 110 possible across the area. The high Saturday is forecast to be 103, while Sunday’s high will be 102. Triple digit temperatures will continue through Tuesday.
The extreme heat will increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, especially for people working outdoors and people involved in outdoor activities. People are urged to drink plenty of fluids and take breaks from the heat if they have to be outdoors.
