Wichita Police are investigating a shooting that injured a 42-year-old man and an 18-year-old man.

Officers responded to a shooting call at a residence in the 9500 block of East Champions St. around 3:40 early Thursday morning. Authorities said the 42-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body while the 18-year-old sustained gunshot wounds to his torso and forearm.

Both men were transported to a hospital in serious condition, although officials said their injuries were non-life-threatening. The victims are now said to be in stable condition.

According to investigators, the men got into a verbal argument outside the residence before they both pulled out handguns and began shooting at each other. Police said they are still working to fully determine what led up to the shooting.

Wichita Police are asking for anyone with any additional information to call WPD detectives at 316-268-4407, the See Something Say Something hotline at 316-519-2282, or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
