The Kansas Highway Patrol said hot temperatures apparently caused a motorcycle rider to black out and crash on the Kansas Turnpike in Sumner County.

The crash was reported around 3:45 Saturday afternoon at mile marker 14.2.  Troopers said the rider was traveling south when he apparently passed out and he was thrown from the Suzuki motorcycle when it went off the right side of the roadway.

The rider was identified as 59-year-old John Klinedinst of Oklahoma City.  He was taken to a Wichita hospital with serious injuries.
