Triple A is expecting the Labor Day travel weekend to be busier this year, and higher gasoline prices are not expected to have much impact on travel numbers.

Most people will be driving to their destinations for the weekend, but bookings are higher this year for flights, hotels, rental cars and cruises.

AAA Kansas spokesman Shawn Steward said people should make sure their vehicles are ready for the road, especially with the impact of summer heat on car batteries and tires.  AAA crews responded to almost 1,400 emergency roadside service calls in Kansas during the Labor Day weekend last year.

Higher traffic volumes are expected Friday between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m.  Best travel times will be after 6 p.m. Saturday, all day Sunday and Monday after 7 p.m.
