Kansas Governor Laura Kelly and Kansas Transportation Secretary Calvin Reed have announced that 35 local and off-system bridge projects will get a combined $42.3 million in funding as part of two local bridge improvement programs.

The programs will capitalize on new revenue from the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and the state transportation department used this funding to add to the existing Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program (IKE).

The funding includes a bridge project in Bel Aire, in Sumner County, for a $180,000 project to rebuild a bridge on North Oliver, just south of East 45th Street North.   Another project in Sumner County will rebuild a bridge over a Cowskin Creek tributary on North Oliver Road about two miles north of Belle Plaine.  That project has a total cost of over $1.1 million.

Funding will also be provided for a $950,000 project in Harvey County for a bridge on 60th Street, about 9 miles east of I-135 over East Whitewater Creek.   A project in Cowley County will improve a bridge over 232nd Road, southwest of Dexter over Grouse Creek.  The total cost of the project is $2 million.
