Police are investigating a fatal car-pedestrian collision that happened early Monday at a south Wichita intersection.
Officers were called to the intersection of Meridian and MacArthur around 2:45 a.m. and they found 66-year-old Gwendolyn Erhardt of Wichita unconscious and not breathing. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Erhardt was crossing Meridian, going east to west just north of MacArthur when she was hit by a northbound car. Police were talking to the driver, a 70-year-old Wichita man, and the intersection was closed for several hours while the incident was under investigation.
This is the 22nd fatality collision and the 22nd death in Wichita for 2023.
