Montana officials said a female grizzly bear with a history of conflicts with people was euthanized after breaking into a house near West Yellowstone. The bear was involved in a fatal attack on a woman from Derby, Kansas in July.
Amie Adamson was attacked while hiking at Yellowstone National Park. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks tried to trap and remove the bear after the attack, but the efforts were unsuccessful.
The agency said in a press release on its web page that the grizzly bear had been captured in 2017 for research purposes, and that helped in connecting the bear with the fatal attack. The bear was also involved in an attack that injured a person at Henry’s Lake State Park in Idaho in 2020.
Montana agency officials were able to locate the bear, and it was shot with authorization of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
