The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia said a Kansas man has pleaded guilty to a felony charge related to his actions during the January 6th, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol building.

The plea was entered by 50-year-old Christopher Kuehne of Olathe, Kansas to a charge of felony obstruction of law enforcement during a civil disorder.  Kuehne will be sentenced on February 23rd, 2024.

Court documents said Kuehne was associated with the Kansas City chapter of the Proud Boys organization and he met with other members of the group at the Washington Monument and then went to the Capitol building.   Prosecutors said Kuehne and others ignored law enforcement commands to disperse, and he went into the Capitol through the Senate Wing door.   Kuehne and others went to the Crypt and used a portable lectern to prevent police from closing a door that would have given them further access to the building.  The group then moved to the Capitol Visitor Center and eventually left through the Senate Wing door.

The Justice Department said more than 1,146 people have been arrested in nearly all 50 states for crimes related to the breach of the Capitol building.
