Wichita City Council members gave unanimous approval Tuesday to changes in the city’s zoning code to allow for a tattoo and body-piercing business to operate within the Old Town district.
Afterlife Tattooz began operating late last year at 111 N. Mosley and the city’s planning department received a complaint. That led to discussions with the Old Town Association and planning director Scott Wadle said Association members expressed support for a change in the zoning code to allow the business to continue operating.
Wadle said two conditions were added to the proposed changes. One is that all tattooing and body-piercing facilities in Old Town should be open by appointment only. The other condition is that the businesses will not be open before 10 a.m. and they will have to close by 10 p.m.
The City Council approved the changes to the zoning code without comment.
