Officials in the city of Pittsburg, Kansas reported a cyberattack last weekend that affected the city’s information systems.
The attack resulted in a temporary outage that affected city emails, phones and online payments. The Crawford County Jail was also affected because it is connected to the Pittsburg Police Department information systems.
The city is working with forensic experts to deal with the effects of the attack, but city operations and services are continuing. The public safety services, including 911 dispatch, are still operational.
Pittsburg City Manager Daron Hall said it may take several weeks to assess the full impact of the cyberattack.
