An unidentified man was in critical condition after an assault that was reported Tuesday evening at an east Wichita hotel.
Officers were called to the 7300 block of East Kellogg shortly after 6 p.m. and they found a man in his 30s with a head injury. It was originally believed that he had been shot but investigators found that the man had been beaten with a handgun, and the gun went off during the attack. No one was hit by the gunfire.
Police took a man into custody and they are looking for a second person of interest. It’s believed the assault was the result of an argument, and the victim and suspect did not know each other.
