A judge in Harvey County has sentenced a Newton man to six years in prison for child sex crimes.
57-year-old Billy Joe Smith pleaded guilty in July to two counts of aggravated indecent solicitation of a child He was sentenced to 72 months in prison plus lifetime post release and lifetime registration as a sex offender.
The Kansas Corrections Department will supervise Smith for the rest of his life, and he is subject to conditions set by the department. If he violates those conditions, he could be sent back to prison.
