A teenager has been charged with second degree murder in connection with the shooting death of another teen in south Wichita earlier this year.
A hearing was held Wednesday for 16-year-old Makyh Townes. In addition to the murder charge, he is facing a count of criminal possession of a firearm.
Townes was arrested after a January 13th shooting that happened at a home in the 2200 block of South Millwood, near Pawnee and Seneca. Police found 16-year-old Seaquori Smith with a gunshot wound, and he died later at a hospital.
Bond for Townes was set at $500,000 and his next court appearance was scheduled for October 10th.
