Officials in Marion said Friday that police chief Gideon Cody has been suspended, about a month and a half after raids were conducted on the local newspaper and the newspaper’s owner.
The Marion County Record reported that Cody had been suspended for an undetermined amount of time.
Police raided the office of the Record and the home of owner Eric Meyer on August 11th, seizing computers, cell phones and other items. The raid drew national and international attention and also brought criticism from press organizations and press freedom advocates. The materials were later returned.
