One person has died after an apartment fire that injured three other people in east Wichita early Friday.
The Wichita Fire Department said a 22-year-old woman died of her injuries after the fire. Her name has not been released.
The fire broke out around 4 a.m. in the 8100 block of East Central, east of the Central and Rock Road intersection. A stairwell collapsed as firefighters got into the building, but they were able to escape. Two people were injured by jumping out a window to escape. Crews reported one person with serious injuries, and two others with possible serious injuries.
The fire was brought under control and crews stayed on the scene looking for hot spots. The cause is under investigation.
