The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Kansas said a former Wichita school district employee has pleaded guilty to one count of receiving child pornography.
Court officials said 43-year-old Eric Carlson admitted downloading and receiving videos and images of young children in sex acts.
Information was reported in June by Synchronoss Technologies about files containing child exploitation material that were uploaded to its cloud-based backup service. The information was reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and investigators linked the account to Carlson.
Police arrested Carlson at his former office in the IT division of USD 259, and his phone was seized. A search revealed images and videos of child sex abuse material that was located in a password-protected private folder. Investigators also found material through a router on Carlson’s phone, linked to software for anonymous communications and access to the dark web. The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the Kansas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Carlson will be sentenced on January 22nd.
