The man accused of killing a Sedgwick County Sheriff’s K-9 has been formally charged in district court.
Charges of battery, domestic battery, battery against a law enforcement officer and “harming or killing certain dogs” were filed against 24-year-old Kaylon Kirkwood. Bond was set at a total of $1.2 million for the charges.
Kirkwood is charged in the death of Public Service Dog Bane during a confrontation on November 16th near Pawnee and Rock Road. A Wichita police domestic violence intervention team was looking for him in the area, and he hid in a storm drain. Bane was sent into the drain along with a Wichita police K-9, and Bane was killed during a struggle.
