A recount of the votes in the November 7th general election has turned out the same result for a ballot question in Haysville. The proposal was defeated by only one vote.
Haysville officials asked for the recount after the results became official. Sedgwick County Election Commissioner Laura Rainwater told the vote canvassing board Wednesday morning that the recount came out with the same results. There were 473 no votes and 472 yes votes. The canvassing board voted to certify the results.
The sales tax proposal in Haysville was for a one cent tax to fund improvements to streets, parks and recreational facilities. It would have taken effect next July.
