There’s a delay in a project to replace the 151st Street bridge over the Ninnescah River near Clearwater.  The project was to begin Monday, but it has been delayed to a December 4th start because of the winter storm that brought heavy snow to the area over Thanksgiving weekend.

The $4.5 million project will close all lanes of traffic on the bridge through the summer of 2024.

The bridge is 620 feet long and it was built in 1955.  Inspections have found the bridge to be structurally deficient and in poor condition.  A new bridge will be constructed to meet current standards and capacity requirements.

Clearwater is two miles northeast of the bridge, so most residents will not be affected by the construction, but a small housing subdivision and a sand-dredging operation are located south of the bridge.  People living or working in those areas will have to take a longer route to get to and from Clearwater.
