Crews got an unidentified woman out of a burning apartment early Thursday in northeast Wichita.
The fire was reported around 1:15 a.m. at the Liberty Way Apartments near 9th and Estelle. Crews found a 26-year-old woman in a first floor apartment where the fire started, and they got her out through a window. She was taken to a hospital with critical injuries from burns and smoke inhalation.
Crews helped other residents escape the three-story building. Most of the damage was limited to the apartment where the woman was rescued. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
