The Kansas Chamber said its annual survey of business leaders has revealed more concerns about the cost of doing business in the state.
The Chamber announced the results of its 19th annual survey on Tuesday. The survey gathered information from 300 business leaders in the state to get their thoughts and concerns over the political and business climates.
The firm of Cole Hargrave Snodgrass and Associates conducted the survey, and the firm’s president, Pat McFerron, said in a press release that “tax sensitivity is really trending up, with 70% now saying they pay too much in taxes – a ten percent increase from last year’s poll.”
Other highlights from the survey:
- 74% believe it would help the Kansas economy to lower taxes
- 65% don’t believe Kansas has the best business climate when compared to other states
- 61% believe it is more important to improve student performance than to increase funding for schools
- 60% say the lack of soft skills is their greatest concern with the Kansas Workforce
The Chamber releases the survey for state lawmakers to consider as they go into the 2024 legislative session.
