Kansas health officials have lifted the boil water advisory for the city of Wellington, but it remains in place for the city of Mayfield and for Sumner County rural water districts 1, 2 and 3.

The advisory was issued because of an equipment failure causing high turbidity in the distribution system. Failure to maintain low turbidity may put the system at risk for bacterial or parasitic contamination.

Testing found no evidence of contamination in Wellington.   Test results are still pending for Mayfield and the rural water districts.  Residents in the areas still under the advisory should boil water for one minute before drinking it or using it to prepare food.
