A Sedgwick County district judge has sentenced a Wichita man to life in prison for a fatal shooting that happened in August, 2022.
The sentence was handed down Wednesday for 40-year-old Shannon Cavitt, who was convicted of first-degree murder, aggravated burglary and four counts of kidnapping.
Police said two men went into a home in the 5200 block of East Gilbert on August 15th, 2022. 49-year-old Dennis Haynes was shot and he died later at a hospital.
Another suspect in the case, 22-year-old Caviontay Conway, is scheduled for a hearing January 11th on charges of first degree murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and kidnapping.
